Hate to see you go, but I love to watch you leave

Getting ready to go on vacation, but, before I leave, I thought you might like to see some of my recent thrift finds. More photos of flickr.

Photos of Recent Events

I have a backlog of photos to share with you. I had a birthday a few weeks ago and walked away with an insane amount of loot--3 Japanese sewing books, a new guillotine-style paper cutter, a handmade knitting needle roll (thanks, Clare!), and a lot of other things. I'm set. A bunch of us met at the park for lunch, and my sweet husband even treated me with sushi and a caramel apple from the local chocolate shop. Words cannot describe the beauty of the apple. It's tear-worthy.

After my birthday our friends from Minnesota came to visit for a week, which is always a good time. Tiffany and I got hooked on the new HBO show True Blood. We thrift shopped. We made a trek to the Auburn Street Fair, where homemade donuts are the talk of the town. After the fair we ate donuts, drank wine, and played memory.

I feel like I'm writing a public service announcement. Bo-ring. I should've just let the photos do the talking. More on flickr.

I forgot to show you the rest!

I neglected to show you this oven mitt and potholder I made for Lindsay, along with the memory cards I showed last week. There are a lot of "uh oh's" on these--notice location of potholder's loop. Grrr. The fabric is from a curtain I thrifted a few years ago and have been rationing out for various projects. The handmade polka dot binding tape was thrifted months ago. The basic pattern shapes are from Lotta Jansdotter's "Simple Sewing."

Anyone else singing, "We all live in a yellow submarine" after looking at this fabric?

No? Oh, okay.
